 Datec has in-depth expertise in designing, implementing, documenting and supporting a variety of communication and network solutions to the PNG market. For communications we are an authorized reseller and solutions provider for Cisco, Alvarion, RAD, Expand and DLink products. For Networking we are an authorized reseller and solutions provider for Microsoft, VMWare and Citrix products

WAN / LAN Security Solutions
Our expertise ranges from small Local Area Networks to Enterprise solutions across multiple subsidiaries and includes wireless, telephony, virtual private networks, firewalls, disaster recovery, security audits and network documentation.
Our team of network engineers (who operate out of our Port Moresby and Lae branches) have a wealth of technical and hands-on experience.
All undergo a comprehensive hands-on training program and technical training in their specialist areas.
Maintaining manufacturer certification is also important. Many of the staff engaged in this division have Cisco Engineering certifications, Citrix certifications, VMWare certification and a range of Microsoft certifications.
Cabling Services
Datec is a certified CAT6 cabling organization in PNG. Datec distributes, designs and implements Structured Cabling Systems, providing highly-flexible, manageable and integrated UTP/Fibre Optics cabling solutions for high-speed Category 5/5E/6 voice/fax/LAN system and video applications. Datec also provides installation and problem resolution services for virtually all cabling mediums, e.g. CAT 5/5E/6 & fibre optic, IBM type 1, and more.
The unit is fully equipped with state of the art network and cabling systems test and diagnostics equipment, including Category 5/5E/6 & fibre optic cabling certification and equipment.
All cabling staff members have certification from the PNG Telecommunications Authority, PANGTEL. This division is capable of implementing simple LANs to complex multi-storey buildings offering cabling solutions of various types, including wireless LAN & WAN.
Power (UPS) Services
 This Power Services Division provides products and services required for the effective use of Information Computer Technology, to address market needs in the energy infrastructure area.
Datec represents Eaton Powerware (formerly SOLA from Australia) and has won the Distributorship of the Year award on numerous occasions.
Datec’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) stock ranges from 600VA to over 100kVA for large installations requiring “no power break”.
Datec carries a large inventory of spare parts in-country to guarantee service support of our UPS customers.
Datec also carries Powerware power conditioners to protect customers from the power surges frequently experienced around Papua New Guinea.
In addition to UPS and power protection solutions and products the division also represents a number of specialised energy related products and services:
Industrial Batteries: We provide a full range of wet and sealed batteries.
Transient Voltage Surge Protection and Earthing Equipment: We can tailor solutions to a client’s requirement, whether it involves area protection with its associated down conductors and earthing systems, or to a localized area in a site.
Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM): This discipline aims to carefully balance preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance technologies. The goal of Reliability-Based Maintenance is not just to treat the symptoms but also to find and fix the root cause of machinery problems. RBM dramatically reduces maintenance costs, unplanned downtime, spare parts inventory and overtime while significantly increasing plant capacity, product quality and overall performance.
